Labor Day Weekend Fun

Saturday, August 31st, 2024. It's been a great week! I'm 1 1/2 weeks in from that first chemo infusion and feel strong and healthy. I had about 3 1/2 days of chemo side effect hell but that has passed since Monday the 27th and I couldn't be more grateful. I was able to work a few days this week as well as spend a few days with my boy before he's back in school.
Eddie's been asking to go to the Science Museum for a while (it's been years!) and we finally made it there after his art class on Thursday. He and his friend, Collin, and I went and enjoyed a few hours of bumming around exhibits, catching an Omni show and had dinner at Cosetta's afterwards. Before we left the Science Museum, I found Eddie hyper-focused on solving some metal wire puzzles at one of the exhibit tables. When I joined him there, the employee working the table explained how focused Eddie was and had already solved several of them. He said Eddie didn't want ANY help or hints. He also explained that Eddie was currently working on their hardest puzzle and that no other visitor had yet to solve it. Well, I had to put a time limit on it, or they would have to kick us out of there at closing time! I don't know if it was the pressure of the time limit, the. hyper-focus, the challenge of knowing no one else had accomplished this feet, but that kid solved it. I was impressed! The employee stood up and shook Eddie's hand. He was also impressed :).
Friday we hit the fair knowing it would be insanely busy because it was SUCH a beautiful day - low humidity, full sun. Perfect! It was me and my State Fair Bestie Amy and Eddie and friend Collin again. We put in about 6 hours or so and today my body aches from head to toe!! It was worth it.
I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day Weekend so far! I'm enjoying my "staycation" recouping from yesterday's activities and hanging out at the pool. Stay safe everyone!

The big challenge - solved!
