I'm grateful to be able to sit here and write some good news. Because let's face it, we don't see a lot of that these days. Yesterday I had a follow up with my oncologist. I've been on Tamoxifen now for 8 months and seem to be tolerating it and adjusting to it. While I hope it's only 5 years, it could be 10 years that I'll need to be on it. So, the fact that I'm tolerating it is a really good thing. The importance of this drug is to help restrict the estrogen that my body produces from feeding potential cancer cells. It's preventative. And, these days, I'm a huge advocate for preventative health.

I also just had my 2nd Zometa infusion. This is the drug that will help reduce my bone health from declining. I already have osteopenia and hypercalcemia so anything I can do to help my bones is a good thing. I will have these infusions once every 6 months for a total of 3 years and then, evaluated from there. The first dose back in February was rough. I had some side effects that made me feel drowsy, fatigued and achy throughout my body. I was told the first one could be rough but then the body adjusts. So far, this 2nd dose is better. I'm hoping it stays that way!

Finally, my overall discussion with my oncologist was super positive. All my bloodwork is within normal range, and he has a very positive outlook for things going forward! I have already told him - this cancer is NOT coming back!

As we move toward my favorite time of the year (Autumn! Halloween!), I feel so grateful. I am grateful for my health, my family, my friends and so much more. A year ago I was in a horrible place undergoing chemo, feeling unwell, losing my hair, fearful of the future ... I'm seeing that in the rearview mirror now. I know that this current clean bill of health doesn't preclude me from health issues in the future. But I feel good now and I'm doing all the things I need to do (including starting to run again!)

Thanks for reading. Stay well everyone. <3
