Ultra Racing w/Jon - Part 1
I just realized it's been a year since my last post! And I've got some fun content to get back into the swing of things. First of all, to say that we've had a few adventures is being modest. We have had multiple lifetimes of adventures - both good and bad. And we always choose to focus on the good.
About 3 years ago, Jon took up "ultra racing". An ultra race, or ultramarathon, is any footrace that covers a distance longer than the standard marathon length of 26.2 miles. And unlike a typical marathon, they usually take place on rugged nature trails with steep elevation changes, rocks, and tree roots and all of the challenges that come with it including the weather.
This year, he trained for a 100 mile race. Yes, you read that right. 100 miles. No sleeping, just running. Or walking and hiking! The only stopping is done at aid stations scattered along the trail where the runner can change clothes, socks or shoes if needed, grab hiking sticks, chow down some food and refill water. And then they are back on their way.
These next few posts will cover this latest adventure. And it certainly was an adventure!
